Forum Leaders Needed for February General Assembly

If you are interested in leading a forum on Lobbying or Youth Related Bills at the February 10th General Assembly, you should attend the February 3rd Executive Staff meeting at Arlington Echo from 7-8:30 p.m. to receive training.

SMOB Nomination Process Open February 10-March 3, 2010

All juniors in good standing at an Anne Arundel County public high school are eligible to be nominated for the 2010-11 Student Member on the Board of Education seat. This position represents the student voice on the Board of Education and is the only student in the entire country that has FULL voting rights on all issues before the Board. Students must be nominated by their peers starting on February 10 through 5 p.m. on March 3, 2010. The formal nomination form is attached and is also available from each high school principal or student government advisor.

Anne Arundel County Model Government Program

On March15, 2010, selected 10th and 11th grade students will have the opportunity to “take over the reins” of government and serve as elected officials and department heads. Students will have the opportunity to attend an orientation to county government, shadow a county government official, and participate in a mock council meeting.

Middle School General Assembly- January 28th

On January 28, 2010, all middle school student governments are invited to attend the CRASC Middle School Conference at the Board of Education from 9:45-12:45pm. During this event, middle school students will attend forums/workshops on middle school related issues and participate in a middle school only general assembly.

CRASC Students Featured on WBAL 11

On December 9, 2009, Tim Tooten from WBAL TV 11 News paid a visit to the CRASC General Assembly at the Board of Education. During this visit, Mr. Tooten was able to witness our 200 students engaged in a service project for Toys for Tots.

Workplace Skills Boot Camp Looking for Volunteers

In April 2010, CONNECT! will host a Workplace Skills Boot Camp for high school students in Anne Arundel County. This Saturday event will allow students to network and attend workshops on developing skills to assist students in becoming successful members of our workforce. Currently, CONNECT! is looking for middle school and high school volunteers to help with registering students, serving as guides/room captains, introducing workshop speakers, and handing out programs. CRASC Dec. General Assembly

CRASC will host its December General Assembly on December 9, 2009 at the Anne Arundel County Board of Education from 9:45-12:45. The theme for this month's General Assembly is service and community involvement. CRASC will be working with Toys for Tots, Happy Helpers for the Homeless, and the Office of Service Learning to provide students with the opportunity to engage in service projects and learn how to effective organize and implement them in their schools.

Please join us in the spirit of our General Assembly by bringing a new toy for donation to the Toys for Tots campaign.

Science Advisory Board Members Needed

The AACPS Science Advisor Board is searching for student members. Meetings will be held in October, February, and April from 6-8 pm at the Carver Center.

Governor Seeking Youth Input

The Maryland Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is currently searching for representatives from MASC and CRASC. Recently created by the Maryland General Assembly, the Council serves as the Governor's advisors on youth issues.

This is a great opportunity, and is a wonderful way to make your voice heard.
